Home Talk
Free home visits for toddlers aged 2-2½ years who need a helping hand with their language development.
Home Talk is a nationally recognised evidence-based service. It is delivered by early years workers with enhanced training to support early language development. Guided and supervised by specialist early years Speech and Language Therapists.
Who is it for?
Home Talk is for children aged 2-2½ years who have delayed spoken language skills and live in Nottingham.
At 2 years
- Say up to 30 different single words
- (bilingual children) say up to 30 words in all their languages combined
- understand everyday words and short sentences
- have age-appropriate social skill development
Closer to 2½ years old
- say up to 50 different single words
- (bilingual children) say up to 50 single words in all their languages combined
- do not often say 2 words together
- understand everyday words and short sentences
- have age-appropriate social skill development
How it works
You will have six home visits with an experienced Home Talk Worker
- Sharing ideas and fun activities to encourage language development
- Linking with the child’s nursery or childminder for additional support
- Review of progress after 3 months
