Primary Care Network Report
Learn about the findings from our Primary Care Network Report.
Small Steps Big Changes has been pleased to work in partnership with others in Nottingham City East Primary Care Network and its partners on a project engaging with non-English speaking parents with young families in Sneinton and St Ann’s.
The aims of the project were to better understand the barriers in accessing health care and work towards improving experiences for families.
The results of this project will be used to inform improvements to the clinical delivery offer to meet the individual needs of children aged 0-5 years, which aim to improve health outcomes for these children.
The project group worked in partnership with an established community partner, Sisters of Noor, to undertake a survey with families who spoke Urdu, Czech, Arabic or Tigrinyan. Sisters of Noor are a grassroots community organisation who specialise in supporting women from ethnically diverse backgrounds and single mothers and children to create an equitable future.
A firm commitment was made by the project group to share the findings of the survey with those families and communities who had supported the engagement project and so four engagement and feedback events were held in May 2022. This provided and enabled additional opportunities for the communities involved in the project to shape the work going forward.
Two reports, available to download, have been produced as part of this work:
- A report on the experiences of accessing healthcare amongst non-English speaking families in Sneinton and St Ann's: Nottingham City East Primary Care Network (PCN6); authored by Farah Khan (Sisters of Noor) and Amy McDonald (SSBC)
- Towards improving experiences of accessing healthcare amongst non-English speaking families in Sneinton and St Ann's: Nottingham City East Primary Care Network (PCN6) - Summary and Learning Report following further engagement events.
